Colin Kaepernick has return to the official NFL game made by EA Sports after being absent since 2016. In Madden NFL 21has been added back into the player database as a free-agent roster. This means we have Colin Kaepernick as a Madden 21 player in Play Now and Franchise Mode.
Because he’s no longer part of the NFL Players Association, EA reportedly negotiated directly with Kaepernick to add his likeness. As a player he includes a “Black Power” salute when he scores a touchdown. EA Sports said on Twitter:
“Colin Kaepernickis, one of the top free agents in football and a starting-caliber quarterback. The team at EA Sports, along with millions of Madden NFL fans, want to see him back in our game. We’ve had a long relationship with Colin through Madden NFL and worked through our past soundtrack mistakes. Knowing that our EA Sports experiences are platforms for players to create, we want to make Madden NFL a place that reflects the Colin’s position and talent rates him as a starting QB, and empowers our fans to express their hopes for the future of football. We’ve worked with Colin to make this possible, and we’re excited to bring it to all of you today.”
Colin Kaepernick has a high rating so he’s a pretty good option. He has an 81 OVR, which makes him a starting-level QB. In addition, he comes with 89 throw power and his 86 short accuracy makes him a nice option for a quick passing game. He’s also got 89 throw on the run, 88 break sack, and 84 speed.
Kaepernick’s history of the last years in the NFL was rough. He was expelled in 2016 from the San Francisco 49ers and the NFL because he kneeled during the national anthem to protest systemic racism and inequality in America. After the incident, he sued the league. Earlier this year, the NFL admitted it should have supported Kaepernick’s protests at the time.
